Game Day

It is funny isn't it? How much one can really love a team. I mean I couldn't wait for today because it was Saturday and just last week Harper's very first Husker jersey had come in the mail. I couldn't wait to see her in it. Because obviously she is a Husker fan and just doesn't know it yet.

Nebraska of course lost today and I experienced just about every emotion watching the game. This happens most games. It is kind of silly really. I even convince myself that they are winning because I'm not watching. Or that they are going to come from behind because I put my lucky game day hoodie on. Things that do not make a difference in how the play at all. But what can I say? I'm very superstitious.

Growing up in Nebraska we really didn't have anything but the Cornhuskers. No NBA, NFL, NHL, nothing. Just the Huskers and you know what? They are consistently a pretty decent team. Sometimes they even win National Championships. So you grow to love them. You begin talking as though you are on the team.

You fall in love with football. And every season you have high hopes. Some seasons they are exceeded and other seasons those hopes let you down. But Saturday's are still your favorite. Your Husker flag waves on your front porch. You drink your beer out of your Nebraska koozie. Some times you even get to go to a game and tailgate with friends. Or you move to other states and you take them with you-- finding Husker fans in Alabama and Montana.

Win or lose you remain a devoted fan and hope one day your daughter becomes one too. Go Big Red.

Proud.

I have so much to talk about and so many pictures to share but I can't help but share this first. This my friends is one of the many reasons I am proud to be from Nebraska and to be a Nebraska football fan. Every time I watch this video I tear up. It is amazing.

Go Big Red.

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi

How is your weekend going? Mine so far has been pretty much perfection and flying by as usual. The weekends are my favorite because I actually get to spend more than just a few hours with my husband. Flight school tends to steal him away all of the time. This weekend has been fun.

On Friday night we were able to hit up Fort Rucker's Oktoberfest. There wasn't much german food there but there was plenty of beer. In fact Oktoberfest wasn't very german at all except for the German Band. We had fun anyways. Harper came along and loved it. For an almost two month old she is so alert. She wanted to be out of her stroller the whole time so she could take it all in. She loved the band.

She also loved all the attention she got from strangers as well. And I loved the beer. Haha. Good times were had by all! Oh and I had a deep fat fried snickers and that was pretty awesome. Does anything taste bad deep fat fried?

Deep fat fried snickers. You bet I attacked it.

Sometimes it hasn't sank it to me yet that I'm a mom. I feel like I'm kind of floating on a cloud. I can't believe she is here and that she is real. Gone are the days of carrying my Louis (I miss my purse). All I rock nowadays is a diaper bag. I try to look all put together but most the time I'm not. But being a mom is so cool. It is like I joined a club. Every where I go there are all these other mom's and they just get it. I meet strangers and we could easily talk about our children for hours. I'm pretty proud of my baby girl so I love it. Harp and I even got a mom's phone number when we were out on a walk this past week. Pimping ain't easy.

Speaking of walking it kicked my ass. One of my biggest regrets is not being in prime shape before I had Harper. But honestly I'm just not that kind of girl. Sure I worked out occasionally but hardcore fitness has never been my priority. So when I became pregnant working out really went on the back burner. After a one mile walk I ended up being pretty sore. But it felt good to get out and I'm sure Harper and I will be going on many walks and probably longer ones too. I will get back in shape.

Man I really just got off topic. Back to my weekend happenings. Last night the Huskers won so that made the weekend even more awesome. It is so hard to be a Husker fan sometimes. I almost have a heart attack every game. Last night we played Wisconsin and came back to win it 30-27. It was NUTS. Even though the Huskers stress me out college football is my absolute favorite.

Today is supposed to be a rainy day. I'm currently sipping on a hot cup of coffee and watching Julie and Julia. I love this movie. Later we plan on heading out to Dothan which means awesome things like Target, and Starbucks. I'm pretty excited. Mostly for a latte.

I hope you enjoy what is left of your weekend. I know I certainly will. Tomorrow brings a new month and I don't know about you but I'm ready to see what October has in store.
