Nudey Magazine Day

I too like Billy Madison get excited for the beginning of the month. I get excited for the magazines that come in the mail. His are of the nude variety, mine not so much.

I used to get so excited for my monthly Cosmo. Even though it tells the same stories every month. But over the past few years something has changed in me. I'm no longer excited for that type of magazine. You see I'm like 27 going on 45. I can't wait for the beginning of the month because that means the latest issues of Good Houskeeping, Martha Stewart Living, and Better Homes and Gardens will be awaiting me.

Forget about Super Sexy Spring looks and tell me more about De Cluttering my house in under a month. That is what seems to do it for me these days.

I don't know what it is but ever since I was little I have been in love with the idea of being older. Of being a mom. Of being a wife. The idea of having my own home to organize and decorate had me so excited. I remember day dreaming about what kind of lamps I'd have in my first home when I was like 12. That is how cool I am.

Now that I am older and I am a wife and mom I can say that I have become quite content in my roles and growing older is all it is cracked up to be. I find peace in it. I love that crazy nights out are rare. I love a good dinner party and game nights in with friends. I love having the girls over for coffee in the morning instead of wine late at night. I love shopping trips to Target to look at home decor. I love the thought of a home full of kids even though my first is only 6 months old. I get excited to be a "soccer mom". I get excited for play dates.

As I flip through the pages of these magazines I see maturity. I see contentment. I see enjoying life. Don't get me wrong I do still get Cosmo and Glamour in the mail I just don't find myself identifying with them as much I used too. I guess I'm getting older. Actually I know I'm getting older. Dakota Fanning is on the cover of my Glamour in a Mickey Mouse Sweater. I could have sworn she was like 11. Sigh.

Forget that. I'm going to go back and re read the latest Good Housekeeping and figure out how to craft, while planting a garden, and ridding myself of my wrinkles.
